That was fun! Tottenham Hotspur welcomed Sunderland and former teammate Jermain Defoe to White Hart Lane just days after dropping a heartbreaker to Leicester City. Spurs were hoping to rebound with a good performance against a side that, while still in the relegation zone, had reeled off two straight wins behind five goals from Defoe.
Sunderland scored first after Patrick Van Aanholt drilled a shot past Hugo Lloris after a Tottenham defensive miscue. After that, though, it was all Spurs. Spurs equalized off of a Christian Eriksen blast just a minute after conceding, and then Spurs put in a dominant second half en route to the win. Mousa Dembele put Spurs ahead, Eriksen added another, and Harry Kane converted a late penalty to ensure that Spurs remain in fourth place with an outside shot at a title run.
