Monday Hoddle of Coffee: Tottenham Hotspur News and Links

New, comments

We have two more days of international football before we get back to the real thing.

Bad news: We have another five days of waiting before Spurs are back in action.

Good news: Janby Aldeweirtonghen is in action today, as is Hugo Lloris.

Our Belgian defenders are making the trip to the land of Lincoln Red Imps to face Gibraltar in what will hopefully be a comfortable win for Roberto Martinez’s men. (Side note: Is anyone frightened of Martinez’s sucks-at-defending juju rubbing off on our center back pair?)

Hugo, meanwhile, will be leading France in an intriguing World Cup qualifying match against the Netherlands. (Both games begin at 2:45pm EDT.) England, Denmark, and Argentina, meanwhile, will be wrapping up their international breaks with fixtures on Tuesday that we can talk about tomorrow.

On to the links:

Hugo says that international teammate Paul Pogba’s slow start at United is down to being fatigued after last summer’s Euros. It was kind of him to refrain from adding that playing next to Marouane Fellaini probably doesn’t help.

Wanyama: Spurs are “up there with Celtic.” Somehow that quote is Brendan Rodgers’ fault, right?

Dele Alli seems to be enjoying the attention he’s receiving as England’s new number 10.
