Watch: this Toby Alderweireld backheel goal for Belgium is absolutely ridiculous

It’s a pretty good night for Tottenham Hotspur international players.

Tottenham Hotspur players scoring amazing goals for their national teams? Must be a Friday. Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen are both playing for Roberto Martinez’s Belgium side in a World Cup qualifier match against Bosnia-Herzegovina today at the Koning Boudewijnstadion. Belgium won the match 4-0, and that’s impressive.

But what’s more impressive is what Alderweireld did to score Belgium’s third goal.

That right there is a one-touch back-heel flick-on goal off a corner kick at the near post. From a central defender.

Holy moly.

We do think of Toby as a threat in front of goal, but usually that threat comes in the form of his large and well-epoxied head, not a delicate flick-on from his feet. That’s a super impressive goal from a player who’s continuing an impressive run of form. I’d like to see him try that move for Tottenham against West Brom next weekend.

Is there a better central defender in the Premier League at the moment? I’m not sure there is.

It’s early days, but the win puts Belgium in first place in their qualifying group with two wins in two matches.
