Being out of the EFL Cup isn’t all bad.

Yesterday, Liverpool had a midweek clash with Leeds ahead of Sunday’s trip to England’s south coast to face Bournemouth. Today Arsenal face Southampton before a weekend trip to West Ham and Man United face West Ham before a Sunday fixture at Goodison Park against Everton.

We, meanwhile, have the week off and get to rest our hurting squad. And, hey, on that front, it sounds like Toby may be available on Sunday.

Obviously it’s always disappointing when you miss out on a chance to win a trophy. Spurs are on something of a silverware drought right now and I wouldn’t have said no to the EFL Cup. However, given our many injury issues and the way the past month has gone for us, a week off may be just what the doctored ordered right now, especially as Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester United all face midweek fixtures.
