Manchester United 1-0 Tottenham Hotspur: Community Player Ratings

That wasn’t the worst thing that could have happened.

A few weeks ago, Tottenham Hotspur had yet to lose during the 2016-2017 Premier League season. Now, Spurs have two losses, both to teams competing with Spurs for the top four. Sunday’s loss to Manchester United stung a bit as the teams were fairly even for much of the match, but a careless giveaway by Harry Kane allowed United to take the lead and the Red Devils never looked back.

Toby Alderweireld made his return to the starting lineup for Spurs, following an injury suffered earlier in the season and looked basically like the player we expected him to look like. The performances of just about everyone else in the team (with the obvious exception of the aforementioned Kane and substitute Moussa Sissoko) were pretty average.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, as if trying to prove that Spurs hadn’t overpaid stupidly for Sissoko brought the winger on with more than a half hour to play, and with the exception of winning a corner in his first few minutes on the pitch, the Frenchman proceeded to do nothing and look tired doing it.

That’s how I saw the match, but what did you think? Here's how the ratings work:

  1. Abysmal
  2. Very bad
  3. Bad
  4. Below Average
  5. Average
  6. Above Average
  7. Good
  8. Very good
  9. World Class or Amazing
