Tottenham Hotspur have a midweek Premier League match against Hull City tomorrow at White Hart Lane, and still have a few players that are nursing injuries. Manager Mauricio Pochettino gave an update on his team’s health in a press conference today, noting that there are still a few players that won’t feature.
So that’s nominally good news on Erik Lamela! Spurs have been without their pressing midfielder for over a month now: he was out with illness, then picked up a hip injury in training, and recently returned home from compassionate leave to visit his sick brother in Argentina. It doesn’t sound like he’s going to be a part of the squad to face Hull, but Poch’s comments suggest that he’s close. Let’s call him 90%.
Meanwhile, Vincent Janssen continues to recover from an ankle knock and I don’t think anyone expected Dembele to feature after he was subbed off on Sunday with a foot injury against United. The good news is that Hull City are pretty terrible, meaning Harry Winks should have no problems slotting into the side.
Hull City are basically comprised of Tottenham’s cast-offs, and their starting 11 regularly features ex-Spurs players Tom Huddlestone, Jake Livermore, Michael Dawson, and Ryan Mason. Who else is salivating at the prospects of a Winks-Mason midfield clash?
Tottenham vs. Hull City kicks off Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. London time (3 pm ET).
