May the best COYS win

The time has come for Mauricio Pochettino to once again return to St. Mary’s and face Southampton, the club he managed for a year and a half.

Last season Poch got his first win on the road against his former employers, as Spurs triumphed on the South Coast by a score of 2-0.

These days Ronald Koeman is more hated by Saints fans, but they’ll still be letting Pochettino have it throughout the game. I was in the away end for our 2-2 draw at St. Mary’s in 2015. Nacer Chadli scored, Erik Lamela scored with his hand, and the home supporters let Poch have it for the entire game.

The Spurs fans backed their man by singing “Mauricio Pochettino, he left cause you’re s***.” The Saints fans came back with “Gareth Bale, he left cause you’re s***”, which of course then prompted our away fans to sing the same Bale-based chorus back at them.

I’m sure Gareth would’ve had a laugh if he’d been watching.

I guess my point is that the atmosphere at St. Mary’s is one of the few in the league that can genuinely be intimidating at times. We saw it a bit when Southampton blitzed us in the opening 15 minutes of our victory there last year. Here’s hoping we can respond in a similar way today if our backs are up against the wall.

On to the links:

How about an update on our old friend Tim Sherwood at Swindon Town? It appears that things aren’t going very well.

Roberto Soldado Instagram’d about his love for Spurs once again. At some point this man needs to come back to North London to play in someone’s testimonial.

The latest big name linked with a move to China is.......Mark Clattenburg? Huh? Can’t they take Kevin Friend instead?

Oh and Jake will be back tomorrow. That is unless he is also offered millions to take his talents to China.
