So the good news is Tottenham have strung together 180 consecutive minutes of reasonably good football for the first time in who knows how long. The bad news is we’re still headed down to the Europa League after crashing out of the Champions League group stage.
That said, 180 minutes of good football is a very good sign, given our awful November. The strong performances yesterday from Harry Winks and Georges-Kevin Nkoudou are also encouraging. Oh, and Toby is back! And he’s doing Toby things already:
The passing maps also look a lot better with Winksy doing work in midfield:
I still think we’re clearly the fifth best team in England now, but I’ve also thought all along that we have much more room to improve than Arsenal does, who I think is obviously fourth best. So maybe if we move closer to our ceiling that will lift us above Arsenal? Or maybe it won’t but it will be enough to lift us to a Europa League trophy?
All I can say for right now is that I feel better about our season after these last two games, even if I wish we could’ve played two games of this caliber a month ago instead of waiting till it was already too late in the Champions League.
How are you feeling after yesterday’s match?
