Apparently Sunday's FA Cup loss to Crystal Palace hurt Spurs more than we realized. The Telegraph is reporting today that Harry Kane caught a wayward elbow to the face at some point in Spurs 1-0 home defeat to the Eagles, breaking his nose.
Harry, being the kind of guy that he is, not only continued to play, but apparently didn't even realize that his nose was broken (possibly because he breathes through his mouth). Kane will reportedly go the Vlad Chiriches/Diego Costa/Petr Cech route and wear a protective mask over his face for the next few weeks to protect it as it heals.
So the good news is that the injury doesn't appear to be all that serious. The bad news is that nobody's quite sure what this means for Thursday's Europa League match against Fiorentina. The Telegraph states that Mauricio Pochettino may hold out Kane in the Europa League in order to give his nose a few more days to heal. Since Son Heung-Min has played in two matches already this week, it seems possible that Sonny may also be rested. Could that mean Nacer Chadli at striker? Erik Lamela as a false nine? Spurs debut for Marcus Edwards?
But more importantly, what will Harry's mask look like? And will it give him superpowers?
