Less than a month ago, Spurs ladies had three cup finals to contend with. With two of those matches in the books, the squad looks to the FA Women's Premier League Cup final or "National Cup" to claim their second piece of silverware in their incredibly successful 2015-16 campaign.
The ladies faced Charlton Athletic in both the Ryman Cup and Capital Cup finals in April. While they defeated the Addicks in thrilling fashion — a shoot-out victory on April 14th — they fell thirteen days later to Charlton 3-0 on April 27th.
Yet this final is the crème de la crème of Woman's Football in England and is the season's most significant trophy. In fact, the squad has eyed this specific goal since the most nascent of stages the term.
"We said in pre-season that we wanted silverware this season and this was the most prestigious trophy we could realistically win, taking away the FA Cup," said manager Karen Hills.
"We did so well last season but didn't have silverware to show for it and that was a driving force this season."
Spurs Ladies will have a distinct advantage over Cardiff in that they've already experienced two high profile finals in such a short stretch of time. The highs and lows of victory and defeat is palpable within the squad and, according to club manager Karen Hills, is a driving force in their FA Woman's Cup final preparation.
"It meant so much to the players to win the Ryman Cup and we then experienced the other side of emotions in the Capital Cup. That defeat hurt us and I can see a determination in the players to now go and give everything to win the League Cup.
"This is, without question, the biggest game in the club's history.
"Both myself, the staff and a lot of the players have been with us on the journey up from the South East Combination into the Premier League and then the highest-ever finish (fifth) last season, now we want to bring this trophy home."
The Tottenham ladies currently sit sixth in the Southern Division table, three places and thirteen points, behind Sunday's competition. Yet the stage is set for glory and this is what Tottenham Hotspur is all about. The final kicks-off at 2pm on Sunday May 8th. Good luck to the Spurs Ladies in their quest for a historic double and the prestigious FA Cup crown.
