The big payback

Chris Brunskill/Getty Images

Good morning!

Going off of Christian Eriksen's theme of Tottenham payback from yesterday's emoji fest on WhatsApp, I've decided to also run with the theme, ranking some of my best payback moments. One moment that doesn't make the list, because it hasn't happened yet, is what we do to Chelsea next year to make up for that abomination of a match at Stamford Bridge near the end of last year.

But let's not ruminate too much on the retribution to come; let us think about the revenge we've seen. In no particular order, my top three:

1. Beyonce's "Lemonade"

2. Sugar Ray Leonard making Roberto Durán quit in the "No Más" fight

3. theroosevelts getting to publish an article everyday for years to spite his English teachers

4. Daniel Levy getting back at his critics by selling Paulinho for real money, not a brief case of IOUs

Let me know what you think, and share your own.

And now for the "news":

Harry Redknapp writes an article, steers clear of Dier wrath| London Evening Standard

Which sounds an awful lot like Harry Redknapp speaking. Maybe a few less rhetorical questions, but pretty close. He does manage to say nice things about Eric Dier, luckily for him.

Ben Davies doesn't want Dele Alli to get in trouble| talkSport

But instead let's all write headlines that make it look like he's threatening him! Because people basically want real life to be a tabloid and we're all doomed.

Are Napoli trying to lure Nabil Bentaleb from Spurs| Daily Mail

This is Tottenham's final, parting blow to Tim Sherwood. Truly masterful long play on this spiteful move by Daniel Levy.

What Ronald Koeman will bring to Everton| Royal Blue Mersey

A size 8.5 fitted cap sized head, lots of crosses, and, I can only presume, many more 6th-8th place finishes.

It's so cute. I want to squeeze it and feel every cynical instinct I have melt away during the embrace.
