Good morning!
There are so many Tottenham players still involved in international football. Here we are, at the knockout stage of the Euros and the semifinals of Copa America at least a dozen active footballers competing in the tournaments. What a time to be alive!
Looking at this positively, that means we have an abundance of international level footballers in our team, make no mistake, a great thing. On the negative side is the obvious toll it takes to continue playing football on already weary legs. That is usually the trade off. Good players that have to negotiate the amount of games they play because of being good. That's really nothing new.
What is new this year, however, is how the adjusted training sessions for returning internationals may affect Spurs less than most of their rivals. All of these internationals are going into their second preseason with Mauricio when they return, and many their third. Only Arsenal, among our competitors, can claim more stability and familiarity system wide.
Will that amount to anything other than an interesting talking point? Who knows. Leicester City may just pull off more devil magic for all we know and run the table next year, but it is interesting to consider seeing how much better the players grasped Pochettino's system from year one to year two.
And now for the "news":
Spurs are in for Antonio Sanabria| 101 Great Goals
If signed, supporters need to create an epic song for this guy's really fun name. Also, are you as confused as I am to who actually owns his rights?
Roy to reinstitute Harry Kane for the knockouts| Telegraph
Harry come back, any kind of fool could see, I was wrong, and we just can't play without you. Harry come back, you can blame it all on me, Hendo corners suck, and we really want to go through.
Quincy Promes' rumor lasted two days before being recycled| The Sport Review
Well, I just gave it all away in the headline, didn't I?
Do Napoli want Alex Pritchard?| Sky Sports
There is no doubt in my mind Alex Pritchard is an attacking talent; I just don't see where he fits into this Spurs team with all our attacking talent who have actually played minutes during the calendar year.
Also, please be careful Pritch. You may stick out juuuuust a little in ol' Napoli.
Very fast pit-stop| SB Nation Lookit
I feel like these guys could make a decent living getting lingering one night stands dressed and out of your apartment before the awkwardness really sets in. Which, let's face it, already has.
