The transfer of Kenyan midfielder Victor Wanyama from Southampton to Tottenham Hotspur is expected to be official very shortly. According to Kenyan sports website Soka25East, Wanyama successfully completed his medical with Spurs and the deal should be announced soon.
Wanyama apparently confirmed his status with Soka25East and is expected to sign his new contract today before heading back to Kenya for the remainder of the summer break.
“I am indeed elated at passing my medicals at Tottenham. It’s a new dawn in my career and I believe I will give my best for my new team.
“I want to thank Southampton management and fans for the exceptional time we had together. I will always have a fond place for them in my heart”
The deal bringing Wanyama to Spurs is expected to be between £9-11m, and is the first of several expected moves in the transfer window for Tottenham. Wanyama’s arrival will help shore up a central midfield that will be without Belgian central midfielder Mousa Dembele for the first month of the season. Wanyama is capable of providing relief and rotation for Eric Dier at defensive midfield and gives Tottenham additional flexibility as they contemplate competing in the Champions League and for a Premier League title.
This is pretty much a done deal. All that’s left now is to wait for the official announcement from the clubs.
