Good morning!
Before we all get bent out of shape about Michy, AZ Alkmaar, Jan's destroyed lower body, and the state of the British pound, remember it's July, and it's only just turned. That's correct--what has seemed like an agonizing window has officially been open for about 24 hours. That we've locked down Victor Wanyama and look to be seriously working to bring in a young striker that won't turn the wage structure on its head should bring encouragement.
Things could be worse. It's not like we're threatening to resign Paulinho here because we're out of ideas. So relax, pour yourself a drink (I know it's bloody early, just do it), and let's try to enjoy Caesar's month a bit. And if you ever lose perspective, at least your good day isn't getting to stand trial for murder again.
And now for the "news", Tottenham, weird, and otherwise:
Eriksen: We need to up our game for Champions League| Inside Futbol
Is this Danish code for "we probably shouldn't start Tom Carroll and Ryan Mason against Europe's elite squads"? Until you can convince me otherwise, I'm going to roll with this assumption.
Yeah, yeah, Spurs are signing Vincent Janssen; what's that about Morgan Schneiderlin?| Mirror
You wouldn't know this but there was an extended break in writing as I frequented my corner store for the rage buying and smoking of cigarettes. Excuse me, I'm going to need another minute...
The case for someone else| Podium Cafe
The pageantry, the drama, the absurdly thin men riding through crowds of drunk, screaming people waving flags at them aggressively while being tracked by cars and motorcycles with cameras every single day for a month, over mountains, and across a country. Pretty standard really.

On a side note, this is my last Hoddle. There are plenty of things I could say right now, but mainly I'd like to thank the people who kept reading it. I write content for myself, but I know how the Hoddle has always been bit more than content to our site, giving the comment section life, and sparking dozens upon dozens of in real life friendships.
I'd also like to thank roosevelts/Salmon/Andy who was very supportive behind the scenes after I followed his legend (he did this for years, people) and Dustin, who often found a way to remind me I was doing a good job which, quite frankly, worried me because we all know he's crap at rating things.
I could go on and on, but really, I've just had a good time. My only regret is that my girlfriend got cold feet this week and didn't write a guest Hoddle, explaining what it's like to support Spurs by proxy and play second fiddle to Dele Alli.
Anyway, it's been an honor to wake you all up with some drivel every day. Take care.
