Tottenham Hotspur suffered its first friendly loss of the preseason campaign, falling 1-0 to Fulham in a closed-door match at Tottenham’s Hotspur Way training facilities on Saturday. Spurs’ newest player had a chance to equalize the score in the waning minutes of the match but was denied by what was described as a “fingertip save” by Cottagers goalkeeper Jesse Joronen.
With numerous first team players still enjoying the last days of their post-Euro vacation, the friendly squad was again a mix of first teamers and development players, allowing manager Mauricio Pochettino to get a sense of which youngsters might be ready to make a step up to the first team.
Also of interest, two former Tottenham players featured in this match for Fulham: midfielder Scott Parker and defender Ryan Fredericks.
Spurs didn’t release a lineup in their match report, but based on the article and the photos posted, here’s a partial list of players who participated:
Vincent Janssen, Nacer Chadli, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Alex Pritchard, Kieran Trippier, Son Heung-Min, Victor Wanyama, Michel Vorm, Harry Winks, Shayon Harrison, Ryan Mason, Tom Carroll, and Anton Walkes.
Tottenham fans’ first chance to actually watch their team in preseason action will likely come when Spurs travel to Melbourne to play in the International Champions Cup later this month. Spurs will face Juventus on July 26 and Atletico Madrid on July 29.
