Tottenham Hotspur finally had a televised preseason match. Woohoo! Even though they fell to Juventus — who looked rather good on the night — it was still great to get to see the team firsthand.
With the match being on TV, we were inevitably going to get our first “every touch” video of the new season. Harry Winks is the lucky fella to get the special highlight reel treatment after the 2-1 loss.
A YouTube Channel called “SpursOnly” put together the video at the top of the page.
Winks came on as a halftime substitute in the midfield and looked rather lively. The youngster hasn’t gotten many chances to play at Spurs in his three years at the club. Now it appears he could finally get that opportunity.
He was calm and composed in possession in his 45 minutes. His distribution around the field was precise. He even showed a little bit of strength on the ball in tight spaces as it appears he’s gotten a tad bit bulkier in the offseason.
With Nabil Bentaleb apparently exiting in the transfer window, Spurs will need a midfielder to step up into that rotation for depth. With performances like this, Winks is sure to be a candidate for those minutes.
