After sitting out the first two rounds of the EFL Cup, Spurs are finally entering the cup in the third round, and have drawn Gillingham FC of League One.
The match will be played at White Hart Lane during the week of September 19. A familiar face will be heading to the Lane, as former Spurs defender Justin Edinburgh, who was at the club from 1990 to 2000, is currently in charge of the League One side.
The Gills, though seemingly a minnow, managed an impressive feat to make it to the third round. Facing Watford, Gillingham came back from a 1-0 deficit to beat the Premier League club in extra time.
Despite Gillingham’s previous result, the draw is a favorable one for Spurs. Mauricio Pochettino will most likely give many of his usual starters a break, giving those youngsters we keep getting excited about the perfect opportunity to showcase their talents.
