Hey all—had a busy night getting some long overdue projects finally done, but that means I’ve not had time to do any original work for today’s Hoddle. That said, here are some links and news that may be of interest to you.

On to the links:

Gab Marcotti’s explainer on the proposed changes to the Champions League is fantastic.

USWNT goalkeeper Hope Solo has been suspended six months for her comments after the team’s loss to Sweden at the Olympics. Kind of a cowardly move on US Soccer’s part, IMO. Solo is 35 and her days as the top goalkeeper for the team are almost certainly numbered anyway.

NBC Sports launching Goal Rush channel this Saturday.

Peter Crouch has still got it?

Speaking of former Spurs strikers, Robbie Keane is finally retiring from international football.

Seattle Sounders will receive a cut of the transfer fee Newcastle paid Spurs to acquire DeAndre Yedlin.

Conor Dowley has a nice synopsis of the main storylines from the Champions League playoff round.
