Another one of the notorious Bale 7 may be heading for the exit door at White Hart Lane. Vlad Chiriches, Etienne Capoue, Paulinho, and Roberto Soldado—have aready left the club. Erik Lamela and Christian Eriksen have turned into two of the most important players in the match day squad.
The one member of that group still at the club but not seeing regular playing time is Nacer Chadli. And if reports from Sky Sports are true, the Belgian may be on his way out, at least for this season. Sky report that Tony Pulis is interested in bringing Chadli to West Bromwich Albion on a season-long loan. It’s not hard to see how a player like Chadli would appeal to Pulis. He’s versatile, has good size, and scores a fair number of goals. Certainly there are obvious downsides with Chadli, a lack of pace and major inconsistency being at the top of the list, but a club like West Brom could do a lot worse than signing a player like Chadli.
There are no details of a future purchase agreement in the current reporting, although it’s hard to imagine there wouldn’t be some provision of that sort built into the deal. Chadli is 27 so he won’t be any easier to sell next summer. It would be strange, then, if Spurs simply loaned him out without any possibility of selling him outright at the conclusion of the loan.
We’ll keep an eye on this story as it develops. It’s looking as if it could be a hectic final few days of this transfer window for Spurs. The incoming business seems to be done, barring a last-minute center back signing or a Levy Deadline Day special. But the outgoing could be a bit crazy with Chadli and potentially Ryan Mason both leaving north London.
