You know what’s funny? Sometimes you make an offhand comment to add context to a transfer rumor and then you discover that you’re right on the nose. That’s what just happened. The Mail is now reporting that Mauricio Pochettino is interested in bringing Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin to Tottenham Hotspur.

Holy smokes would this be a great transfer. We already know that Pochettino likes Schneiderlin, and in fact Spurs fans were desperate for him this time last summer (and the summer before that). Schneiderlin was the engine that made Pochettino’s Southampton team click in the midfield pivot. He’s incredibly talented, knows Poche’s system inside and out, and would immediately make Spurs better. He’s also mired in Jose Mourinho’s doghouse.
That said, we’ve already heard reports that say that Mou isn’t likely to let Phil Jones go to strengthen a direct rival, so it seems unlikely that he’d relent on Schneiderlin unless Spurs make a really, really good bid for him.
This is all just spit in the wind at this point, but Morgan Schneiderlin at Spurs by the end of the day? Would.
