Let’s talk about Gillingham!

Hi, Hoddlers. Jake got the “i” key on his laptop fixed, but now the enter key isn’t working or something. I told him to get rid of that old Compaq but he seems to be attached to it for some reason.

I’ve been thinking a little about Wednesday’s match against Gillingham in the EFL Cup. Specifically, I’ve been considering who might actually make the starting lineup. Gillingham is a mid-table team in League One and we’re hosting them. It doesn’t seem likely that we’d pull out the stops and play a mostly first-choice team when the squad is already exhausted. It seems very likely that we’re going to see a lot of reserve players come in, and maybe even some former youth players.

For example, we already know that Pochettino has promised a kit number and game time to Marcus Edwards. Seems likely that, if he’s ever going to play with the first team this season, an EFL Cup match against Gillingham would be a prime candidate.

Because I hate the League Cup, here would be an ideal lineup, if I’m picking the side. (Lloris starts because Lloris always starts unless he’s dead.) Let’s rosterbate!

But this is Pochettino we’re talking about here. While I expect we’ll see SOME rotation, Poche’s rotated sides usually feature a decent mix of first 11 and reserve players. So, if I had to guess, this would be something like I’d expect to see, knowing Pochettino.

I’m probably hilariously wrong, but Poche never punts on anything, and there will probably be some players like Winks and Edwards who would come in in relief.

What kind of a lineup do you think we’ll see on Wednesday?

On to the links!

Gazza’s back in the news again, and for all the wrong reasons. Has there ever been a more pitiable former football star than Paul Gasciogne? I never know anymore whether to condemn him or pity him, and I wince whenever I see he’s in the news.

According to The Sun, Chelsea is interesahahahahahahahaha no I’m sorry I just can’t it’s too hilarious.

Unusual Efforts has an interesting post about Sassuolo.

Did you see Jordan Henderson’s goalazo against Chelsea on Saturday? Holy smokes!
