I feel like I’m just going to keep writing the same lede for a while—he said, optimistically with the Manchester City match looming—but Tottenham Hotspur’s unbeaten start continues. In fact, it is officially Spurs’ best ever start to a Premier League season (despite what a certain former manager may believe).
What was impressive, to me, about the Middlesbrough match was that the result came with a fairly rotated squad. Ben Davies was included out of necessity, but Harry Kane, Eric Dier, and Mousa Dembele were absent through injury and Erik Lamela was a late-game substitute. Spurs, however, didn’t seem to miss a beat. Heung-Min Son continued being awesome and, though he didn’t score, Vincent Janssen showed that he is more than capable of filling in for Harry Kane in his absence.
All in all, this is a good result. That said, let’s see what you all thought of each individuals’ performance. Here’s how the rating’s work:
