Watch Luke McGee make an incredible penalty save for Peterborough

Great stop!

Penalties are supposed to be a reward. As the attacking team you’ve put in hard work to get inside the opponent’s box and have been unfairly denied a chance to score. Usually the penalty taker has the advantage when it’s 1 v 1 with a goalkeeper from the spot. Unless that goalkeeper is Tottenham-owned Luke McGee.

The 21-year-old shot-stopper is currently on loan at League One side Peterborough United. Against Shrewsbury on Tuesday, the Spurs keeper pulled off a fantastic save on a penalty attempt:

What athleticism and intuition it took to get to the shot as it was heading to his far right. The save was supremely important as it was the difference between one and no points as the two sides drew, 1-1.

For a goalkeeper, 21 is very young in the career span. He still has a lot of developing to do. Who knows, maybe he’ll be doing this in the Premier League for Spurs one day.
