Though the Arsenal and Chelsea wins on Saturday weren’t what we wanted, Sunday went as well as we could have imagined: City fell to Everton 4-0 while United and Liverpool both dropped points as they drew 1-1 at Old Trafford.
We now head in this weekend’s match at the Etihad in excellent form while City is laboring. Pep Guardiola has shifted City to a 4-2-3-1 in recent weeks in hopes of balancing the squad and patching up the team’s significant defensive holes. However, the consequence has been a less exciting attack, fewer quality chances, and minimal defensive improvement as the issues seem to be more about personnel than system. We’ll have more on the upcoming match later this week.
