More transfer news, kinda!
It turns out that Maximus Tainio wasn’t the only son of a Spurs-affiliated person that was signed to Tottenham Hotspur’s academy yesterday sometime in the not-so-recent past. The Daily Mail are now reporting that Spurs have also signed Mauricio Pochettino’s younger son, Maurizio, to a spot in Spurs’ academy as well.
We don’t know much about Pochettino’s family, and that’s okay. Poch has been quiet with details about his wife and kids and is understandably very protective of their privacy. Therefore, there’s not much information to disclose about what kind of player young Maurizio is.
We know Pochettino the Younger is 15, and that he plays as a winger. What we don’t know, and what we’re unlikely to know for a while yet, is whether he’s good enough to make a serious impact in the academy or if his dad greased the skids a bit here. Probably a little bit of both.
However, I don’t think this means that Maurizio is going to be getting any free passes anytime soon. Mauricio looks like a tough dad. In fact, knowing Poch, I bet Maurizio will have to work twice as hard for half the credit or he’ll find himself training with Chirpy.
Hopefully this means we’ll start to see a Pochettino in the U15 and U16 match lineups, and maybe some scouting reports from Spurs fans like Windy who pay lots of attention to the youth teams.
The Mail also reports that Poch’s older son, Sebastiano, is also with Spurs, but works as a sports scientist.
Looking forward to ranking Maurizio in the Tottenham Hotspur Prospect Rankings this summer. (Number one with a bullet!)
