Tottenham Hotspur have progressed — barely — to the Fifth Round of the FA Cup. That’s the Sweet Sixteen, if I’m allowed to speak ‘Merican on here for a moment. And today they find out who their opponent will be in the next round.
So there’s actually good news if you want another easy Spurs draw: there are a bunch of non-Premier League teams still left in the competition, including two clubs that aren’t even in the Football League: Lincoln City is currently top of the Vanarama National League table and look likely to promote, and Sutton United are sixteenth. Beyond that, Oxford United & Millwall are hanging out mid-table in League One, and there are a bunch of Championship teams left.
That doesn’t mean that these teams aren’t GOOD, though: if anything, Wycombe should’ve taught us that lower-league teams are more than capable of dealing with highly-rotated Premier League sides when the conditions are right. No matter who Spurs draw, they should not take any club for granted from here on out.
The Fifth Round of the FA Cup will take place the weekend of February 18-19, 2017. Fixture dates and times will be announced after the draw.
How to Watch
Again, the draw will be televised live in the UK on BBC One, but I haven’t found any legal American source for the draw. However: FATV is live streaming the draw on YouTube, which is bloody fantastic! I’ve embedded the feed below.
