Ireland scored early in their World Cup play-in match against Denmark today, putting Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen in a real danger of not qualifying for Russia 2018.

But then two things happened in 90 seconds.

First, Ireland scored an unfortunate own goal (though it was later credited to Denmark’s Andreas Christensen) off of a muffed goal line clearance in the 29th minute to equalize for Denmark.

Then, Eriksen did this:

HOLY MOLY! That’s the kind of goal that Eriksen can score at any given moment. And Eriksen wasn’t done! In the second half, Christian got his second of the game with a left footed curler that sent the visiting Danish fans into raptures.

And in the 74th minute, Eriksen made sure there was absolutely no doubt left, crushing Ireland’s dreams to completing the hat trick with a real poacher’s effort.

The World Cup just wouldn’t be the World Cup without Christian Eriksen in it. Thankfully, now we don’t have to imagine that scenario. Tottenham’s Danish Dynamite is going to Russia!
