Tottenham Hotspur were struggling a big with a parked Brighton & Hove Albion back line in the first half of their Premier League match at Wembley Stadium. Despite having the bulk of the possession, Spurs were having difficulty breaking through a well-organized Chris Hughton defense, and fans were starting to get frustrated.
This match needed a hero. Enter Serge Aurier.
WHOA. I’m not sure if Aurier intended to do that. Actually, I’m quite sure that Aurier did NOT intend to do that and that it was probably supposed to be a looping cross to the back post.
No matter! It’s in the back of the net, just like he drew it up, and Spurs take a 1-0 lead into halftime at Wembley. It’s Aurier’s first goal as a Tottenham Hotspur player.
Hopefully this will open things up a bit in the second half the way it did against Stoke at the weekend.
