Ramble of the Day

I accidentally went down a weird rabbit hole today. It all started when I saw this tweet.

I had to click, of course. What kind of strange article is this? How exactly did they measure “the airports where you’re most likely to find love?”

Turns out, match.com has a “Missed Connections” feature where people can get matched at airports. That’s weird — and totally going to be the inspiration of a future Lifetime movie. (I hope those of you based outside of the U.S. know what Lifetime movies are.)

The best part of the article, though, comes right at the end. Just when you think you’ve learned everything about the topic, the writer casually drops this:

And for those who aren’t able to make a love connection in the airport, continue the search with this dating app that will link you up with other people on your flight.

This thing just kept taking twists and turns that I did not see coming. I had no idea that looking for romance at the airport or on an airplane like this was a thing.

Of course, you can use this app for other things, like chatting “with nearby users to share a cab into the city, find out what’s cool a destination or even uncover secret frequent traveler’s airport hacks.” I guess it’s got some not romantic uses, too.

That was all a bit bizarre, wasn’t it? Let’s try to find some normalcy from the links.
