Harry Kane has done it! With his header in the 22nd minute against Southampton, the Tottenham Hotspur striker has broken Alan Shearer’s record for Premier League goals in a calendar year with 37 overall.

Christian Eriken played helper, as he’s done so many times during Kane’s run this year. It’ll be likely go down as one of the easier finishes in the string of goals, but no one will remember that. It’s also his 94th career Premier League goal. He’s still just a bit behind Shearer’s all-time mark of 260 in that regard. However, if Kane stays in the league for the remainder of his career, you have to like his chances of threatening that record as well.
Shearer was more than gracious to concede the record to his countryman, tweeting out these complimentary words:
You’ve had a magnificent 2017 @HKane. You deserve to hold the record of most @premierleague goals in a calendar year. Well done and keep up the good work. ♂️

What a striker, what a player. Thank the heavens he’s ours.
EDIT: You didn’t think he would be satisfied with just breaking it did you? He wants to obliterate it. Here’s No. 38 to make it 2-0!
