It’s been a pretty good day for Tottenham Hotspur, including Hotspurs on loan! Hours after Harry Kane fired home a hat trick to help Spurs beat Southampton 5-2 at Wembley, on-loan midfielder Josh Onomah got a goal of his own. Joshy headed home a real striker’s effort for Aston Villa, where he is spending the season on loan, to level the score against Brentford in the Championship.
Great striker’s instinct on that goal, right? Unfortunately, that was the high water mark for Josh as he was one of the players directly responsible for Brentford’s winner. Our friends at 7500 to Holte have all the details, but it sounds like Joshy completely lost his man, ran into his own teammate, and allowed Lasse Vibe to score. Brentford won the match 2-1. With the loss, Villa are in eighth place in the Championship table, three points out of the playoff zone.
Joshy’s become a fan favorite at Villa Park this season, playing in nearly every match this season and starting most. Steve Bruce has opted to play him in various roles across the forward attacking midfield band, however, and not as a central midfielder, where he excelled this past summer at the U20 World Cup. Still, he’s having a good loan, and hopefully this will translate into a good opportunity at Spurs next season.
