Hello, Hoddle people!
The period between Christmas and New Year’s is a weird one. I probably would not know what day it is without these Hoddles, since including the date is a necessary part of it. Let’s ramble now.
Ramble of the Day
Yesterday, I spent a good portion of my afternoon playing GeoGuessr. It’s not a new game, but in case you have not heard of it it, here is how it goes: using Google Maps’ Street View, GeoGuessr drops you on one of our world’s many roads, and you have to figure out where you are.
When my sister told me about its existence yesterday, I had to play. I have been obsessed with geography since I was in elementary school and was an active participant in geography bees when I was younger, so this game would clearly be something I enjoyed. It is not easy, especially when the game drops you on some unpaved road, dry land and blue sky the only things surrounding you, but the challenge is exciting (at least to me).
I would ramble further, but I stumbled upon this Yahoo article by David Pogue from January in which he discusses the appeal of the game, so I’ll let him do the heavy lifting. I will honestly probably be hooked to this for the next few days to weeks.
Now, for the obligatory links.
Links of the Day
Virgil van Dijk is officially a Liverpool player, and is also the club’s record signing.
Shinji Kagawa made a child cry by nutmegging him multiple times. This link also has bonus footage of Eden Hazard embarrassing children, one of them his own son.
The Guardian picked out the 12 best photographs from the Premier League’s Boxing Day fixtures. There’s a cool one of Dele Alli in there.
