The Hoddle of Coffee: Tottenham Hotspur News and Links for Friday, December 8

We’ve made it to the end of the week, Hoddlers!

Let’s get to down to business.

Ramble of the Day

I spent a lot of my day yesterday talking about potatoes, to multiple people, in different conversations, sometimes unprompted. From before lunch to well past dinner, I talked — and thought — about the best vegetable, potatoes.

(The return of Top Chef last night added to matters, considering THERE WAS A CONTESTANT WHO SAID SHE DOESN’T EAT POTATOES. What’s the point of eating?)

My favorite form of potato has to be the classic fry, or chip to the Brits here. Roasted potatoes, though, are a close second. (Feel free to share your favorite types of potatoes.)

I sometimes think about how some people have referred to Spurs as “Spuds” in an insulting manner. (Note: I haven’t seen a person do it in years, and I wonder if it was just in one corner of the internet for a few minutes, but it stuck with me.) It’s a bad attempt to mock the team, though, because you’re calling it a potato, and that’s a compliment -- especially when the team is out of form.

Now that I think about it, I don’t think I even ate any potatoes yesterday. That’s a shame, isn’t it? I’ll have to fix that today.

Oh, right, you’re here for links and not my obsession with potatoes.
