Team news is out ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s Thursday’s Europa League tie against Gent, and it’s time to slow our roll on the imminent return of Danny Rose to the side. The club, and by extension Mauricio Pochettino, poured cold water on the idea that we might see Rose back in time for this weekend’s Premier League match against Stoke City, saying that it will be a few weeks before he’s ready to return to training.

Spurs just haven’t been the same without Danny bombing up the left flank, and his absence means more and more games for left back deputy Ben Davies, who hasn’t really had a break since Rose went down injured. With Jan Vertonghen healthy and fit again, the Belgian is almost certainly Davies’ understudy, but I wouldn’t expect Pochettino to make that kind of change unless Ben’s legs fall off.
Meanwhile, the slow and steady rehabilitation of Erik Lamela continues.
