Tottenham-linked Spanish star likely to leave Real Madrid this summer

Buckle up! It’s going to be a long summer of Isco rumors.

Oh, so you hadn’t heard any Isco rumors for a while and you assumed that rumor just faded into the ether? NOT SO FAST, MY FRIENDS. Nebulous sources from the Spanish Media™ are back with news about the Real Madrid attacking midfielder and his potential availability this summer.

In short, Spanish daily Sport.es is saying that Isco is part of an expected Real Madrid summer clear-out that could also include James Rodriguez, Danilo, Pepe, Alvaro Morata, Keylor Navas, and Fabio Coentrao.

Isco was on Spurs’ radar all through the summer as reports circulated that he was unhappy with his playing time in Madrid. While the summer signing didn’t happen, MARCA said back in October that Pochettino was “loco” for the Spaniard and what he could bring to Spurs’ side.

The latest round of rumors doesn’t address Tottenham specifically, but Sport says that Madrid president Florentino Perez is willing to let Isco go this summer, so long as he gets the right price for him. Sport suggests a price tag of €50m (£43.3m),which seems pretty ridiculously high for a player who never really established himself at Madrid, especially considering Madrid paid only £25m for him three years ago. My guess is, wherever he goes, it’ll be for less than that.

Last time, the rumors suggested that Tottenham Hotspur were indeed a possible location for Isco along with his former club Malaga. There’s no concrete links this time between the Spaniard, but don’t fool yourself into thinking that he won’t be linked to White Hart Lane all the way until he’s sold sometime this summer. And if Spurs really want Isco, it’s possible that they might be able to get him for a halfway decent price.
