So this was a pretty great weekend in the Premier League for us. We’re five points clear of Liverpool for second with a match-in-hand. We’re seven points clear of City. We’re 11 points clear of United, though they have a match in hand. And, of course, we’re 17 (count ‘em!) points ahead of Arsenal, though the Gunners have two matches in hand on us.
Oh, and that Blue team to our west lost.
But we aren’t going to talk about that.

If you’ve forgotten it... this is why:
Take a step back from the 5-1 defeat at Newcastle and look—really, objectively look at what Spurs have accomplished for the club's future. Think about what it will be like to be a Spurs fan next year. We'll have Champions League football! Tuesdays at White Hart Lane under the lights against the greats of Europe! From a business perspective, Tottenham can expect new revenue in the tens of millions of pounds. Champions League means added prestige that should help draw a few more exciting young stars to wear Lilywhite and fight for us on the pitch next year.
So, I've pulled over to the side of the road briefly to type this out on my phone. I found my phone in my pocket along with keys to a house I don't recall, but I do not appear to have a wallet or ID. The car I'm driving I don't recognize, and based on the broken glass on the passenger seat and the blood pouring from my knuckles, it may not be mine at all.
There are other reasons why, of course, but we will not speak of them.
We are Spurs. Good Things Do Not Happen To Us. This whole thing is just the soccer gods’ way of saying “YOU THOUGHT WE COULDN’T TOP LAST YEAR? TRY US.”

Dammit wouldn’t it be cool? We’ve already had the Cubs and Cavaliers win titles in the past year. The Red Sox have won multiple World Series since 2004! Then there was that stupid “fairy tale” last year in England. Atletico won La Liga a few years ago.... Friggin Monaco is probably headed to the Champions League semifinals.
