While Tottenham Hotspur were defeating Burnley 2-0 at Turf Moor on Saturday, Erik Lamela was undergoing surgery to fix his long-term hip injury. The injury, sustained after Spurs’ League Cup loss to Liverpool this fall, has kept him sidelined for much of this season and that will now cause him to miss the remainder of Spurs’ campaign.
That surgery appears to have gone well, as Lamela posted a photo of him in the hospital recovering from the procedure.
First: LAMELA HAS A MAORI BICEP RING TATTOO HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS?!
Second: this is great news. Spurs have missed Lamela since he went down but have managed to cope with his absence and are in the midst of (potentially) their best ever season in the Premier League. Hopefully his recovery is swift and he’ll be back on the pitch in time for preseason training this summer.
Third: I’m super impressed that Erik Lamela continues to maintain a perfect faux-hawk even while recovering from surgery and in a hospital gown. You have to respect the man’s commitment to his hair.
