The Premier League monthly award nominations for the month of April are out, and once again Tottenham Hotspur are well represented. Mauricio Pochettino has been nominated for the Barclay’s Manager of the Month award, while Christian Eriksen, Son Heung-Min, and Jan Vertonghen are all nominated for the EA Sports Player of the Month. Dele Alli also is in contention for the Carling Goal of the Month.
So, like, Pochettino HAS to win the Manager of the Month award, right? I mean, surely. Spurs have won nine league games in a row, including all of their April fixtures. Their only blemish was the FA Cup loss to Chelsea, and cup matches don’t count in these awards.
Poch is up against Antonio Conte, Jose Mourinho, Craig Shakespeare, and Marco Silva. While it feels like he’s been nominated every month this season, he hasn’t actually won the award since February of 2016. I can’t imagine he doesn’t get it.
Eriksen, Sonny, and Vertonghen make up nearly half of the Player of the Month field, along with United’s Eric Bailly, City’s Sergio Aguero, Palace’s Christian Benteke, and Chelsea’s Eden Hazard.
Finally, Dele All gets a nomination for THAT goal against Watford a few weeks ago:
Fan voting makes up a small percentage of the overall vote for these awards, so if you want to have your say you can vote online here. The winners will be announced on May 12.
