Happy Monday, hoddlers,
So, Gareth Bale and Luka Modric have won the Champions League for the second straight season. I didn’t actually watch the match because I had other non-football related things going on and I honestly couldn’t give two craps about either Juventus or Madrid, but from the highlights and final scoreline it didn’t look like it was especially close. I’m happy for Gareth and Luka, though — both left Tottenham Hotspur because they wanted to win Champions Leagues, and they have done so. They’re at the pinnacle of the soccer world. Fair play to them.
Here are some links to get you started in the morning.
Cameron Carter-Vickers and Team USA crashed out of the U20 World Cup with a 2-1 extra time loss to Venezuela.
The USA senior men’s team didn’t suffer the same fate - Christian Pulisic scored and USA drew Venezuela in a friendly.
Without going too deep in the weeds here, there’s big stuff going on in the Middle East regarding Qatar and it could have an impact on the 2022 World Cup.
Chelsea’s Eden Hazard has a broken ankle, will have surgery, and will miss the start of next season for Chelsea.
