Did you remember that Federico Fazio was still technically a Tottenham Hotspur player? I didn’t, though I probably should’ve. Well, he isn’t any longer. Spurs announced via social media that they have confirmed the sale of Fazio to Roma.
We have reached an agreement with @OfficialASRoma for the permanent transfer of @Fede2Fazio. We wish Federico all the best for the future. pic.twitter.com/0VumzgkFf5

Fazio, unwanted by Pochettino, spent the whole of last season on loan at Roma, and the deal reportedly had an option to purchase. Roma, it seems, picked up on that option. Spurs didn’t say what the transfer fee ended up being, but the (not always reliable) Transfermarkt lists it as £2.75m. Whatever, really. It’s not like this is a surprise move.
To be fair, Fazio was a rock in Roma’s defense last season, tallying four goals and an assist in nearly 4,000 game minutes in all competitions. He may not have been in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans, but he’s been plenty good for Roma.
The other loan-to-buy player that we haven’t heard confirmation about is Clinton N’Jie, though since he’s been training at Marseille it’s likely that he’s also there on a permanent basis.
