It’s kit number day! Tottenham Hotspur have released their first team squad numbers today on social media, and while there are few surprises, there is one significant number change.
Kieran Trippier, who took over as the first choice right back for Tottenham after the departure of Kyle Walker, assumes Walker’s vacant #2 shirt, switching from the #16 shirt that he wore last season.
Here’s Tottenham’s tweet about the kit numbers:

A couple of observations:
- Harry Winks still hasn’t embraced his destiny and switched to the #40 shirt. Come on, Winksy.
- Interesting that we don’t have a #6 or #8 shirt on the squad right now. You have to think that one of those shirts will eventually go to
Keita BaldeRoss Barkley. (This would also be a more interesting list if we had new players hint hint hint) - Last year’s released list also included a bunch of academy kids and youth teamers that were given first team numbers but whom rarely played, like Luke Amos, Alfie Whiteman, and Marcus Edwards. Those aren’t included this time, but one presumes they probably all still have numbers.
Go forth and order your new Tottenham Hotspur home jerseys with confidence!
