WHY IS NACHO GOING TO LEICESTER

Kelechi Iheanacho looks set to sign for Leicester City in a £25m deal that includes a buy-back clause which Manchester City can exercise in the future. And yeah, I know, buy-back clause. It sucks. But you can’t tell me Nacho doesn’t make this team better. He’s serviceable backup to Harry Kane and makes it possible for us to try some different uses of Kane, as we did early in the year last year with Vincent Janssen. What’s more, if Pep doesn’t rate Nacho, it’s hard to see him breaking through at City as long as they have Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero in the squad. Even if Kun is sold next summer, City has money. They just spent £26m on a backup fullback. They’ll buy if that’s what Pep wants. So why not take the risk on Nacho and see where it goes?

(You all can laugh at me in December if Nacho has made 15 apps for the Lesters and scored only three or four goals.)
