It’s safe to say that Josh Onomah is having a pretty good loan thus far at Aston Villa. The 20-year old Tottenham Hotspur midfielder has slotted right into Steve Bruce’s side in the Midlands and has quickly become a fan favorite.
Tonight, Villa traveled to Bristol City for a league match. Down 1-0 in the 64th minute, Villa needed a savior. One man answered the call. And his name was Josh.
What. A. Goal. Sure it took a deflection, but go on and celebrate that shot, Joshy.
That strike got Villa an away point against City and pretty much lodged Onomah in the hearts of Aston Villa fans everywhere. (No, Villa, you can’t keep him.)
Onomah came to Villa knowing that he needed a good showing in the Championship to have much of a chance of cracking the first team at Tottenham Hotspur. He’s done pretty well so far. The irony is that he’s done it as an attacking midfielder and not in the pivot (which is where we though Steve Bruce would play him). Whatever. If it gets him into a role position in 2018-19, I’m happy as a clam.
