If there’s one thing we know Tottenham Hotspur needs, it’s another good wide attacking midfielder. Riyad Mahrez fits the bill, but this has been more wishcasting than anything else.
But maybe not? Reports are coming out that Riyad Mahrez is leaving, but we don’t know yet where. Today, L’Equipe is reporting that Spurs are one of three clubs currently in negotiations for the Algerian Premier League winner.
That’s the good news. The bad news is that the other two teams are apparently Chelsea and Barcelona.

No concrete agreement yet for Mahrez. Barça, Chelsea & Tottenham in ambush. Player goes to Paris in case it accelerates.
This means that Algeria has let Mahrez leave international training in order to finalize his deal, so we know he’s going SOMEWHERE. We just don’t know where yet.
Mahrez had his best season the year Leicester won the Premier League, but had a predictable drop-off last year which soured him to many fans. However, there’s no question that he’s still a talented player and would improve Tottenham’s squad a great deal. As of now we have no idea what Mahrez’s price would be. It’s all very mysterious.
Unfortunately if either Barca or Chelsea are serious about picking him up, there’s probably no way that Spurs can hang with them. If Daniel Levy really does want Mahrez, and he’d be a good signing, he better hope that the other two are just putting in cheeky lowball bids.
