Trabzonspor official confirms loan interest for Moussa Sissoko

It is a thing! But Spurs want to sell, not loan.

It appears the rumors linking Tottenham Hotspur’s Moussa Sissoko with Trabzonspor in the SuperLig weren’t just made up by the Turkish media after all. Today, Turkish-Football posted quotes from Trabzonspor’s vice president Gencaga Meric that say not only does Trabzonspor want to bring in Sissoko on loan, but that he’s interested in making the move.

“Sissoko is keen on joining, we have spoke with him and talks went well. We have yet to convince Tottenham or their manager.

“Tottenham want to recoup most of what they invested in Sissoko but we want him on loan.

“We have made our offer and are waiting for a decision.”

Tottenham’s last match against Juventus now seems to be a “shop window match” for Sissoko, who still has four years remaining on his Spurs deal from last summer. It sounds as though Spurs are fine with letting him go but they would prefer to sell him off entirely. Still, a loan wouldn’t be a terrible plan as it would get all or most of his wages off of Spurs’ books, at least for a season.

If our mentions on Twitter are any indication, there are a LOT of Trabzonspor fans out there who would take Sissoko in a New York minute. It might not be the worst place for him to resurrect his career.

On the other hand, losing Sissoko at this stage would remove yet another right back candidate from a club that’s already... okay, sorry, I tried but I can’t type this with a straight face.
