It’s hard to come down from the transfer window. I’m still, as Harry Kane would put it, “buzzing.” But as I went to bed on Thursday night, there was one question still rattling around in my brain:
What will Fernando Llorente’s shirt number be?
Thankfully, the club used its precognitive powers to scan my brain waves while I slept and had my question answered by the time I woke up in the morning.
18. Fernando Llorente will wear shirt no. 18.

The no 18 jersey has a proud history, with none other than Harry Kane having last worn it, so that’s good for a player who is Kane’s backup. Other players who have worn the #18 shirt include (of course) Jermain Defoe, Frazier Campbell, Ruel Fox, Ben Thatcher, Steffan Iversen, Gerry McMahon, Jurgen Klinsmann, and Jason Cundy.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m already pretty tempted to get a #18 Llorente jersey that I can wear with ironic pride in a decade.
