HEY EVERYONE GUESS WHAT DAY IT IS TODAY
GO ON, GUESS
DID YOU GUESS SEPTEMBER 1 BECAUSE IT TOTALLY IS
Yes, that’s Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane, he who is contractually obligated not to score in the month of August, firing home a shot while wide-open in the box to put England up 1-0 over Malta in World Cup qualifying action. He did it after being fed by Dele Alli (also: of course it was Dele!), who dragged several Maltese players out of position and left Kane alone with the net gaping.
Please note that had this match been yesterday Harry would have hit the post, because you know he would have.
Malta are very bad and it’s a little weird that England hadn’t scored already. They’ve had around 75% of possession in this match but until that goal only six shots. Thankfully, Kane is good at football, and also thankfully it is now September.
Also curses are totally a thing and I’m sorry for being a doubting Thomas.
UPDATE: And he got a second, too!
