Tottenham Hotspur now know their opponent in the third round of the League Cup, and it’s Barnsley. The Reds won the right to take on Tottenham at Wembley Stadium after defeating fellow Championship club Derby County today 3-2 at Oakwell.

I didn’t watch this match so I have no idea just how good or bad Barnsley are. Google tells me the Reds are 16th in the Championship right now with seven points from six games. Early days, but Spurs probably shouldn’t have too much trouble with them, even if they play a completely rotated squad.
A look at their squad doesn’t reveal too many footballing luminaries, but you will probably remember our old friend Zeki Fryers, the defender who Spurs poached from Manchester United a few years ago. Zeki landed at Barnsley this season after crashing out at Crystal Palace.
The third round match between Spurs and Barnsley will take place on Tuesday, September 19 at Wembley Stadium.
