It turns out the stories about Ross Barkley on deadline day were too good to be true after all. Rumors swirled about the Everton midfielder who was the subject of long-standing interest from Tottenham Hotspur, and it was even reported on Sky Sports News that he had walked out in the middle of a medical at Chelsea after changing his mind.
Turns out, that wasn’t so accurate. Barkley clarified his situation on Twitter, saying that he never had a medical anywhere on Thursday, and will re-evaluate his status once he’s healed from his hamstring injury.
Contrary to a number of reports in the press, I did not undertake a medical with any club at any point.

I simply decided that due to my injury, it would be best to make a decision on my future and assess all my options in January when fully fit

Thanks for all of the support.

First, learn how to thread a tweet, Ross. Second, this makes a lot more sense but I confess to being a bit disappointed that the Chelsea-ghosting story isn’t true, mostly because they have it coming for the the whole Willian thing.
It also means, as we said earlier, that we can expect another go-around of rumors and links between Barkley, Chelsea, and Spurs as we head to the January transfer window. Brace yourselves. Winter is coming.
