Tottenham target admits playing Premier League football “a dream”

The Bordeaux star doesn’t know if he’ll be moving this month, but he already has his sights set higher than Ligue 1.

Bordeaux’s 20-year old forward Malcom is now the subject of intense transfer speculation, with Tottenham Hotspur reportedly very interested in obtaining his signature, either this January or in the summer. And as far as he goes, Malcom would welcome a move to England to play his football.

Speaking to reporters about his future, Malcom said playing in the Premier League is “a dream.”

“I don’t know [if I will go]. If I do leave, that would be fine. I will be grateful to Bordeaux, that’s life. If I have to stay I will, and I will do my job. It is true that England is a dream for every player.”

Those are pretty boilerplate player quotes, but it certainly does seem that Malcom will be leaving Bordeaux for a new challenge, if not this window than in the summer window.

Apropos of nothing, perhaps, Bordeaux also just appointed Gus Poyet as their new manager after sacking Jocelyn Gourvennec. Poyet is a former Tottenham player who still has connections to the club.

I’m not saying that Poyet would be willing to sell his young star-in-waiting so soon after joining the club... but please give us a good deal, will ya Gus? Legend.
